Windows Xp Will Not Connect To Internet


When an unsecured network such as Sitecom (unsecured/open) shows excellent connection, but will not access the internet, what do I need to do in order to obtain an internet connection? my laptop always connected fine, but then i took it home to my parents' house, where the laptop automatically connected to my parents' wifi. Any one of the preceeding actions can end up in the removal or data corruption of Windows system files.
